Cusco
The first thing people notice in Cusco are the Inca walls. The Incas cut enormous granite blocks to fit together so perfectly that even today a knife blade cannot fit between the stones. This craftsmanship allowed the Incas to construct without mortar. Many of these walls were reused and build upon during the Spanish conquest. The Inca stonework resists earthquakes, while the Spanish construction sustains damage in this earthquake prone region.Cusco
