I went to Veracruz City with Habitat for Humanity for the Jimmy Carter Work Project, in October 2004. The San Juan Ulua Fort once protected Veracruz City. There is also a very interesting museum in Xalapa which features giant Olmec heads about 2 hours drive from Veracruz City.
