| Mexico Report Home > Acapulco Acapulco - Sun Sand & More Sun! "Just say the words and we'll beat the birds, down to Acapulco bay." Frank Sinatra Jan & I needed an escape from the cool rainy season here in Mexico City. We didn't beat the birds and most of old blue-eye's hunts are gone. But, the sun still shines on Acapulco bay. George and Paola, our friends and guides for this weekend getaway, helped us find a nice bay with apartments available for rent by the night, Royal Aloha's Torre Planco in Pichilingue. We though we would have the beach to ourselves, since it was the middle of the rainy season. But, Acapulco was crowded. Thanks to summer recess from school, every family in the country was there! Thanks to our Canadian and Mexican guides, we spent a day at the very uncrowded Barra Vieja, a beach that is very well known only to locals. While eating dinner at Beto Godoy on the beach, we heard someone yell "Jan," not a very common name here. It was Jan's boss and his family! Of all the times to run into your boss---while wearing a bikini. Updated Acapulco pages: The flamingos at the Princess hotel - San Diego Fort - Palma Sola prehistoric stone carvings. |
